Dear San Lorenzo Unified School District Families,
The San Lorenzo Unified School District calendar for 2023-24 included one additional day of instruction so that students could stay home from school in the event of extreme heat, excessive smoke, or some other environmental hazard.
Because no “environmental day” has been required this school year, the district and its employee associations have agreed to designate Friday, May 3, 2024, as a non-school day.
Please be aware that on May 3, classes will not be held and all schools will be closed. However, please note that the District Office will remain open during normal hours.
The flexibility to close schools due to an environmental hazard is vital to our students and employees' health and safety, which is our highest priority. It is equally important that we ensure students receive 180 days of instruction, a full school year as defined by state law.
